When was the last time you gave yourself permission to pause?
For many of us, especially therapists, coaches, and helpers of all kinds, the day fills up before we even realize it. We go from one session to the next, from home responsibilities to community commitments, and it can feel like there’s no place in between to catch our breath. We hold so much for other people, and often forget to create space for ourselves.
This is where the practice of a pause comes in.
Why Pause?
A pause isn’t just leaving work. It’s a conscious choice to let the body and mind reset. Even a few minutes of intentional awareness can shift how our nervous system is functioning, moving us out of the constant “on” mode and into a calmer, more restorative state.
Research in neuroscience and contemplative practices has shown that simple moments of breath awareness, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation can:
Lower stress hormones in the body
Improve focus and clarity
Reduce emotional reactivity
Restore energy for the next task or interaction
Pausing is foundational for self care and staying out of survival chemistry. It gives you back the steadiness to keep showing up without running yourself down.
Coming Back to Your Own Authentic Energy
This guided meditation is an invitation to do just that — to pause, to reset, to return to yourself.
When you listen, you’ll be guided to:
Gently withdraw your awareness from everything else calling for your attention
Connect with your breath in a way that naturally calms the nervous system
Notice your spine as a source of both clarity and steadiness
Release what you no longer want to carry (tension, frustration, comparison)
Choose what you’d like to feel more of (peace, kindness, joy)
Why This Matters Now
We’re living through a time when so much is asked of us. Clients are more dysregulated. Families are under strain. The pace of information is relentless. Without creating time to pause, our nervous systems pay the price — and burnout isn’t far behind.
By creating small resets, we not only take care of ourselves, but we also model for our clients that it’s possible to step back, recalibrate, and meet life from a steadier place.
Your Invitation
I recorded this meditation because I know how easy it is to overlook critical self care. This is a space for you to step out of the noise and return home to yourself.
When you’re ready, find a safe and quiet moment. Put down whatever else is demanding your attention. And just let yourself receive.
