In an article in Psychology Today, Diane Roberts Stoler, Ed.D., (a neuropsychologist, board-certified health psychologist, board-certified sports psychologist, and trauma therapist with over 35 years experience) talks about the similarities between Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and the 7 Chakras. According to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, there are five different needs that must be met before we can reach our ideal self, self-actualization. This is true for the chakra energies as well. It's interesting to note that both systems begin from the bottom up and the need of each must be met to build a healthy emotional, sexual and physical foundation. The word Chakra is derived from the Sanskrit word meaning “wheel,” “circle,” or “cycle.” These 7energy centers feed the nervous system and they correspond to bundles of nerves, major organs, and areas of our energetic body that affect our emotional and physical well-being. They start at the base of the spine and move all the way to the crown of your head. In fact, you have probably felt your throat chakra tighten when you are about to say something vulnerable or important. Similar to computer CDs, chakras store certain kinds of information –all the ideas, experiences (pleasant and unpleasant), memories, associations, etc. in them. Also similar to CDs, these areas can become damaged, making the information stored in them difficult to utilize. Those unable to finish their training with their group will not be provided another group. To cancel or reschedule your private appointment, please do so 24 hours or more in advance. Less than 24 hours will be charged the full appointment price.
